Here's how travel can benefit the mental health!!!
Before going into the concept of behavioural health, let us understand the basic meaning of behaviour. Merriam Webster's definition of behaviour is, “The way in which someone conducts oneself ”. So if there is a problem with the way one conducts oneself then there might be some issues with that person which needs to be acknowledged. Here comes the concept of behavioural health.
Behavioural health is how a person can handle his emotions and behaviour. How the body, health of a person connects with his behaviour is studied in behavioural health. Some people confuse mental health with behavioural health but according to some theories, mental health is a part of behavioural health. Some of the symptoms of mental illness are also part of the behavioural illness.
Coming to the common symptoms includes feeling sad, confusion, less concentration ability, stress, anxiety. Defiant behaviour, drug use, criminal activities, self-harm, secrecy are also examples of behavioural issues. Sometimes because of behavioural issues, a person may feel that he is being mistreated. A person’s ability to judge things around can be affected if he/she is suffering from behavioural illness. Also, feelings like emptiness and loneliness may prevail in these conditions.
It plays an important role in effective functioning. It can impact your productivity and efficiency. If your behavioural health is good then you can easily cope with different problems in life and most importantly you will be able to spread positivity around you.
It is very important to know that no medication, in this case, can provide instant relief to the patients. For treatment, taking professional advice can help a person very much. There are various psychiatrists, counsellors who can help in identifying behavioural disorders. Various groups are coming forward to fight this illness. Talking in groups can positively impact your behaviour. Nowadays webinars are frequently used by professionals and health service centres so that people can be aware of such issues irrespective of their locations. Several bloggers have chosen behavioural health awareness as their micro-niche so that people get to know more about this underlying issue. Other than medicines, people can choose behavioural therapy for treatment. A person can enforce desirable behaviour within with the help of behavioural therapy. Behavioural therapy is a combination of the following things:
1. Cognitive behavioural therapy: This form of therapy focuses on problematic thoughts that influence a person’s mood and actions and solving them. This therapy can be used in the treatment of a child who is suffering from behavioural issues as cognitive behavioural play therapy. It is formulated especially for preschool and small age children.
2. System desensitization: This process works on reducing a person’s fear and how they can overcome the fears while relaxing at the same time.
3. Aversion therapy: A stimulus is combined with the treatment. An example is a person trying to quit smoking and alcohol can be treated through this therapy.
4. Applied behavioural analysis: Here the main focus is to modify problematic behaviour of a person. Counsellors and doctors try to teach those skills to patients that can stand the test of the time.
5. Social Learning Theory: This process involves learning through observations. Good observations and bad observations may result in reward or punishment which lead to behavioural change.
However behavioural therapy is not sufficient sometimes. Certain behavioural disorders need this therapy combined with other treatments also but the first step of treatment is to know within that something is not right. When you and your loved ones accept the fact then rest of the process becomes very easy because at the end all that matters the most is family support these kinds of situations.
